Council Training Camp 2008

LONG POST AHEAD: 2236 WORDS!

This camp was something rather different,
compared to other council camps.
But honestly, i preferred the 'March camp?
But this wasn't that bad.

School on Friday was rather do nothing kind of thing
'cos my bag was in the liliput
so i walked around empty handed,
and there wasn't any lessons.

School ended at 12.30,
in the library for awhile with Sharmala & YingYng
and off to go for camp.

The dreading feeling was annoying.
'cos it was the beginning of camp & its like you got to go through the 3days
which seemed extremely long at that hour
+
the suspense that was added in
you don't exactly know the tone of the camp, yet.

But it went rather alright,
the camp got started by a talk, by Mrs Yap.
The theme of the camp for pearlization - there's no such word in the dictionary,
but i find it sucha unique name actually.
So she talked about.. the theme of the camp & the significance of it,
for us, as leaders and weaknesses and strengths.
And gave us time to do, reflections - with a few questions.
it ended, soon enough to move into our individual levels for our workshops.

& JiaWei left for her KunMing briefing.

I hated the seperation parts,
'cos it meant finding a new partner
other than for ClaraS, JiaWei & Hazel.

The workshop was about leaving a legacy.
Well some points were rather ralevant for me 'cos i just lead the p6 invitation days ago.
& it gave me time to reflect through the points
whether i did the right things
or i did negative things like critisize or whatever.

But as i reflected, i guess it was more of positive points 'cos i don't remember putting anyone down or whatsoever.
And going through the workshop
someone kept appearing in my mind, how that someone has abused her authority rather

Dharishini, shhhhh.

So every point, i kept '________!' on the paper
HAHA!

Its in a way, sad to realise.
I once was there in the library,
hearing Aishah talk about how council changed her
and now,
people are telling me to pass the baton on,
to leave a legacy,
something where my juniors will remember me for.

Its too fast, just too fast.
It seems like i came in last year, and leaving soon.
Wow, treasure the remaining time left, i guess?

We played a shape & a game called 'touch' during the workshop.
I didn't like the touch game AT ALL.
We were blindfolded and we were paired with someone,
and we're supposed to feel that someone's hands and seperated again
and once our blindfolds are off you have to find who that person was.

AHHH!

The shape game was an interesting one,
we had strings and we had to make shapes, blindfolded,
but with talking
and there would be someone who's able to see, but not able to talk.
It was really an interesting game, i must say.

The workshop ended @ 6
and it was dinner.

Dinner was horrible !!
It was some yuckky stuff,
i don't exactly remember
but i didn't eat much, i waited for SUPPER!
HAH!

After dinner it was bonding games!
The first game was some catching the flag game.
My group is Group 5, Sambal Balachen (sp?)

My group members were:
Eileen, Amanda , XinClare, Joshua, Shireene Sharmala, JiaWei, Dharishini, Dakshayani, Arshad, Jancy, Clara, Tashka (me).

Almost everyone went attacking other groups for flags
accept for Sharmala, Dharishini, Shireene & Me.
Joshua was defending the outer area of the cone.

Sharmala's scream chases everyone away!
When she decided to go out to attack instead,
everyone started coming to us to attack!
Geesh.

Played with other groups.
& moved on to the next game.

You had to do tasks to get to the end
where we had to collect as much foam as possible.
with shampoo on our heads, obviosuly.

First task:
Bite an apple with your teeth and not holding the apple.
Second task:
Pick 2 Marbles on the grass around and put it in the bowl
Third task
Put your head in flour to get a sweet
and then wash your hair to get the foam.
All the girls had like alot of foam, please!
HAHAHA!

It was bath time,
supper,
and lights off.

But yours truly spent the night accompanying friends to the toilet
'cos i was still awake, till 4.15am.
:O

Woke up @ 6.
Sharmala was amazed that i actually could wake up even though i slept at that hour
and i guess she's the only one who knows the actual time i slept.
Heh.

Toilet to do morning stuffs with JiaWei,
and packed a little
before heading for morning stretches,
its Day2!

Did some weird stretches,
HAHA!
And breakfast in the parade square with the red group,
since the canteen was wet.
Kaya + Bread = Heaven.
I had 3 servings?!
heh.
I shared the milo with Dharishini though,
not really a milo fan, but i love macs' iced milo.
(:

Assembled at the concourse,
before going to the LC for a combined workshop!
With the sec1s, 2s & 3s.
It was about working together as a group,
united as one council body.

We played 2 games.
1) On my knees, where we had no chairs but squeeeze together and sit one another,
supporting one another.
And if one falls off, the whole group falls.
But the girls managed to do it, after a few tries.
;)

The second game we played was a scavenger hunt,
where we had to complete tasks together,
but there was a string tied to every one, passing through our bodies.
We had to work together to complete tasks like catching an insect, saying a cheer with water in our mouths etc.
And the school was packed at that time!
There was GG south division day, with like 10 schools in our school?
There was NPCC
There was BB
There were teachers & some sec4 classes
& US!

After the workshop,
it was lunch.
I lovedddd the food.
Tofu, Sweet & Sour Fish & Kang Kong (?)
All my favourites!
And some didn't want their share and passed it over to me, heh.
I finished EVERYTHING, for the FIRST time!

Went over to the LC after that
Briefed on the Race Of Spirit also known as Amazing Race.
Elaine was the senior in our group.

Our first clue was
Sun, Sand, Sky if i ain't wrong.
That place was Bishan Active.
So we had to go there by WALKING 'cos he only were allowed one trip by BUS!
Our task was to design a logo and explain how its related to us as councillors.
Managed to do it, in like 4 mins?

Our next clue was What is 2,3,7, 11
That place was Prime Supermarket!
Our tasks was to take a picture with a shop owner and a student/child.
We finished this task fast so but 'cos we didn't know the next clue we could not move on
and since we asked our senior for help,
we had to be delayed by 10mins @ Prime.

Relaxed and tried to identify the next the clue we could not solve,
even though Elaine gave us 2 words of the clue
(1) 3 up & 3 down
(2) A park new our school

Once 10mins were up, we though of just giving Bishan Park a try,
but before that we went to the POLICE STATION to ask for a map
to see the parks nearby
HAHA!

Bishan Park was the right place,
we had to come up with a cheer,
cleared the station in about 5mins

the next clue was
'$'
So we thought cannot be banks 'cos so many banks!
So we said oh CPF then.
Went over to CPF, but we were at the wrong place
Gave Money Changer, Action City and all the shops on the 4th floor a try
but all was wrong.
Asked for clues from Elaine,
so got delayed for 10minutes.

The clues were:
(1) Don't think about money
(2) It sells food

FINALLY! We got it,
it was S11 the food court!
When we were able to leave,
went over to S11 and our task was to write 10ways councillors can serve the school selflessly.
Easypie.
Done in 5 mins.
We had 1/2 an hour left
before we had to head back to school.

Our last stop was
Singapore Press Holdings
Made our way there,
kind of far.
And when we were @ the overhead bridge
there were workers painting,
and as we ran pass
the paint dripped on my hair!
BLEAH!

Reached SPH
and our task was to face the cars, write with our backsides
'Student Council'
& we did so!
Took a bus back to school!

And we completed the race,
it doesn't matter what position
but we are all wonners
'cos he completed the race yes?

Break

before more bonding games!
The first game was an alphabet game
where we were not allowed to talk but had 3 tries to solve the mixed alphabets and could only use our left hand and right leg
glad to say, we came in 1st!

the second game was broken tv
where we had to pass down a message to down the row,
no talking but through actions!
WHICH WAS PLAIN HILARIOUS!
I can't explain this game.
You'd not understand it, unless you're there.
HAHA. Aflame for Truth became a pregnant women
HAHA. A man running with an olympic torch became the small intestines!
HAHAHHAHAHHAH!

Game ended,
Bathe time.
We allowed the Sec1&2 have their bath first,
things happened there.
It was disgusting so i decided to have my bath in the boys toilet
AND their toilet is like CLEAN!
so much better than the girls
soon after, 10 girls followed after to bathe at the boys toilet.

Dinner.
Some yucky awful food.
I didnt eat other than 3 spoons.
YUCK!

Sharing Session soon after.
I was way sleeeeepy and having a headache by then.
Grrr
First group of senior was Kerin's & Elaine's 'talk'
WOW Kerin is in ECH course
which is the course i'm kinda interested in?

Found out more and stuff
before heading to Humanities Room for Bjorn's 'talk'
and well,
i was totally off
i actually fell asleep on the table!

Walked round and round after i got up
to prevent me from sleeping!
Rounds to the bunks to the HOD rooms to the dance rooms and back to the bunks,
thrice.
Hah!

Headed over to.. LC for Aishah's talk.
Which was kinda the best
'cos everyone just started spilling everything
both inter&external council stuff
& most of the things no one had the courage to tell the teachers
but since Aishah's a senior everyone from Sec2/3 just said EVERYTHING
SHE WAS SUPER SHOCKED
that she called MrsTeo into the room for the sec2 group, hah.

Sharing Sessions ended,
with the teachers surprised but rather imformed now.
Debriefed, it was already 12.
I was zonkedddd.

MrsTeo talked about decisions,
i was so tired & restless i was entertaining myself at the back
'cos i can't be bothered to hear (too soft and i was too far away but lazy to move)
& then she said something like,
'If you need help in making decisions you can go to people like.. .. .. or Tashka'
i obviously didn't hear that part and thought she was calling me so i stood up and said huh? yes, why did i hear my name?' and was walking to the front AND THANKGOD CHASTINA STOPPED ME
AND ASKED ME TO SIT DOWN 'COS SHE WAS USING IT AS AN EXAMPLE.
HOW DUMB CAN I GET, OMG!
I hope no one saw me walking up or something,
what happened if i made my way all the way to the front, if no one had stopped me?

Okay, whatever.
After debrief,
waited for the sec2s and off to bed.

Good morning,
its Day3!
Random stretches and stuff,
off to breakfast soon after.

Its the first SUNDAY that i was in school and not, church.
Whoops.
Heh

After breakfast it was supposed to be team building activities
but 'cos of last night's sharing session
MissFoo came back and discussed about the matters faced by the sec3s
while Mrs Teo did the same
but for the Sec2s.

After all the discussing, conclusions
we did reflections,
THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE NOTES!
I was kinda shocked to see so many, but happy at the same time!
And then we were dismissed after doing a cheer.

Hah,
there was some children church in the 1st floor,
omg, cutenessss.
They were singing the BIBLE song that kept ringing in my head,
reminded me of Shalyn leading Agapeland in that song, HAHA!
But their children church is like SUPER big,
Below 5 yrs about 60 children
Below 12 yrs about 80 children!
THE CHURCH IS BIG!

WOOOOOOOW.

After we were dismissed
headed over to Macs
like any usual Sunday
but instead of Val & Clarissa
it was Clara & Hazel!

Lunch-ed. and had a good chat.
It was a memorable time spent together.

COUNCIL BOLEH! :D

So yes, i just remembered, i should be more detailed for the time spent in the workshop; in a way saying, the other games we played during the workshop.

Started off with Pass On, I mentioned about that earlier. Another game we played was ( i don't think there was any name given to this game.) Heh. We had 6 questions to do, Coach Elgin named us the PINK GUAVA. (i bet it was after noticing my PINK bottle.) HAHA. Okay so yes, my group mates consisted of YingXuan, Victoria, Shalin, JiXin, Dakshayani, HuiPing, Chastina, & 2 others which i can't remember who now, haha.

& so we had to answer 6 questions, the first one was some word formation, where only Victoria & YingXuan took part in, & they came in second! The second question was on art, and JiXin & Chastina did the drawing! ( Excuse me, she's the top in cohort!) The third question was to come up with a group name, & group values, Group name was G.M.I. (Guava, Mango, Ice-Cream), & our values were C.A.R.E. I can't quite remember what it stands for tho. Heh. The forth question was (i forgot.) The 5th question was on Maths, Where Dakshayani & HuiPing went to solve it, sadly all 3 groups did not quite solve it all the way. And the last question was for all the groups members to gather, and become octopus(es) and start moving around, haha. Completed that & we were done!

We also played 2 other games, during the second workshop,

One was TUNA FACTORY, the other was Catch Me If You Can.

Started off with Catch Me If You Can, Stella & Noel led. I think i've played this game before, during youth. There would be like 4 groups facing the middle, north, south, east & west. Then there would be a runner & a catcher. Haha. & if the runner lands in front of your row, the last person of that row would have to run away from the catcher. & i was supposed to catch JiXin, but when i was chasing after her, she just screamed&screamed&screamed. Which was real funny, and she ran out of the space that was allocated, so i became the runner & she the catcher. Thankfully, i was save! :D

The next game was Tuna Factory,
we just had to roll over one another till the end of the concourse, where we were saved, seemed difficult, but kind of fun! :D After the first time tho. HAHA.

Okay, that was about all the games that we played, heh.

I want to thank SHARMALA & JIEYING for accompanying me through the first part of the night? HAHA, THE LIZARD! :D :D

Clara & Amirah, you both did a good job being the camp commandants;

& Miss Foo, you know why already. ;) Heh.

Okay, that's all i've to say about training camp'08.

There wasn't much fun but still alot of lessons learnt. And this was a training camp, so by right, you don't expect fun right? :)

Council Training Camp, 2008.

My, am i glad that training camp is over!

I don't want to go into detail, but i'll do an post on it. (300th post!)

Day 1:
Left for camp with Hazel, reached school & packed the locker.
Assembled at the canteen and then was asked to go to the MPR to put our bags down and all,
went into groups, i was in group 2 with Sharmala, JieYing, Clara Sim, Stella, Joel, JiXin & i can't remember who else, because we wern't always in our groups..

MrsTeo did the first workshop, the theme of the camp: BULB.
& then she went through all the council values and things like that,
And off, we had to do reflections on how we think we are as leaders, before the camp & after the camp.

It was a 15 break after that,
& off for the first High Achievers Workshop, it was rather interesting, started off with a game which i hated, PASS ON. We were supposed to balance a rolling plastic ball onto a plank, and pass it down the row, all the way till the end, while in another direction, there is the same plank coming, but to the person opposite you instead. Heh.

This time my group mates were Jancy, Victoria, Amirah, Jesmond, JiXin, Chastina & Noel.

We didn't win. But we tried our best didn't we?
Then training in proper.
It was good. :)

& Lunch time.
This was the only meal i enjoyed.
(YingYng, be jealous, there was a piece of hushbrown, a hot-dog, chicken & rice.)
So i finished everthing, nothing wasted. Although it was a little spicy. Haha.

Then off for round 2, of high achievers, we went a little high & started to sing, Jenny when Coach Elgin played it. HAHA. & he still can remember me from last year!
Cool! :D The workshop was on how we can be a cutting edge leader and not a ordinary leader. This one was a better one, compared to the faciliating one. Heh.

Ended off with 3 cheers for couch Elgin,
& bombing before bath time.

And the wonderful thing was that the sec2s had not finished the workshop yet, 1/2 the sec3s didn't want to bathe. Functions left to prepare the games, so it was left to only like 8 of us? So bathing time was like for 15 minutes, before the sec2s came over. Hahaha. FIRST EVER I ENJOYED BATH IN SCHOOL. :D Oh, & once again i was wanting to sneeze because of the shampoo, but i just couldn't. TSKKKKK. But finally i did when Bhisman came! HAHA.

Okay then break all the way till Benjimin came & asked us to play some weird game, 'Sister/Brother this is a solmn (sp?) occasion' , without laughing. & if someone did along the way, we'd to do 20 push-ups & if not benjimin would have to do the 20 push-ups instead!

Firstly, i don't see what so funny about saying it?! ( & if you know me i laugh @ any silly thing.) But what was so funny?! I was asked to start the 3rd round, and it was so simple! & who do you think won, the councillors or the president? It was us of course! :D & so ben had to do the 20 push-ups. COOL!

Dinner was next, IT WAS TOO SPICY! The fish-cake was in sambal, the chicken was in sambal, the gravy was spicyspicy, and there was chilli on the riceee! GREAT. Ate half, and went to get hello panda instead together with Milo. & that was dinner for me.

After dinner, was the president's story of his journey & all.

& soon after, it was Night games. -.-
If you recognised my voice, i was actually one was the 'angels' in heaven. I tried my best to not be strict, even though some were very strict. I brought Bhavna by a so very long route so that she won't be stopped by anyone, but she happened to be by Rayson. I kept giving chocolates&grapes to most of them, haha. I reallyreally was trying to not be strict at all.

The course of obstacles game went better compared to Heaven & Hell.

Helped a few in their answers, heh.

Went over to JiaWei, i didn't know what happened at first because she didn't respond, but finally i knew, take care yeah?

Then joined the casualties because i didn't want to do anything else. Helped them go grab their glasses, and Jancy pleaseplease get well sooon yeah? ;) Recover well! Talked to ClaraSim, Amelia, JiaWei because i was enjoying the peacefulness of the Cabana. Soon after, brought them all to the parade square & back to the concourse for the debrief.

I hope Hazel, JiaWei, Amelia, Eugene, Jancy, Victoria are alright now. Heh. Brought them all up to their dorms, and when to see Hazel, stayed there to look after her while Hannah went to have her shower. Hazel, please take care of yourself! Talked & made sure she was alright before i left for supposedly my dorm, but all the Sec3s were asked to get out to the concourse asap for an ungent debrief? It was silence. Completely. Soon after Miss Foo said a prayer.

I just don't know what happened after that, but when we went back to the dorm, talked for while, laughed, enjoyed till ? I'm not going to mention about the night, it was scary, & was fearful. :/

Woke up the next day, @ 6.45 i think, went to the toilet, and the sinks were choaked to the brim, mymy. But had no choice, did the morning routine. Packed my bag, brought it up to the MPR before going for breakfast.

Kaya for breakfast, not too bad yeah? Then off to dorm cleaning. Arranged the tables & chairs back and left for the duties training.

Latecoming was it. It was kind of alright? I hope i wasn't too strict tho. For one of the groups Mr.Koh&MissFoo acted as gangstery students, and the sec2s took on the case, woah. I don't think i've ever had any kind of students behave that way.

& it was up to MPR. Someone spoilt it by making us do push-ups for (what's the reason?) -.- Debriefed, Valuables returned, but i didn't give mine, they were @ home. HAHA. Then lunch, :( Wasn't too bad, ate half, and enough.

Said goodbye to the sec2s. The sec3s were supposed to stay back all the way till 4 because of some changing in context or something. MissFoo&MrKoh brought us to the unknown place, vivocity. Unbelivable at first, but true. Walked around, aimlessly. Got my Ben&Jerry's & my paper! :)
& soon after we had to head back to the heading point.

We rushed there, but when we reached there, the teachers have not even arrived yet!
Great. Bus brought us back to school, and then we had another talk, so that was the 'surprise.' ThankGod it was something whithin the human capability. Workshop went rather well, MrKoh is such an entertainer. Heh.

Went up to the rooftop, to see the 'farm.' Woah, frogs, fishes, crabs, hamsters, plants, & the newest addition, spafish? yeap. Everyone tried it except me. I just didn't want to. I refused. & just watched people do it/ or the hamsters & how fat they actually are. Haha.

That amrked the end of the camp;

Not going to be updating till i'm back from training camp, which is just 11 hours awayyy!

JiaWei, Hazel, Bhavna, Dharishini , we'll go through this camp together & we'll make it through together,

JiaWei, Don't be worried/scared. Afterall even the commanders are humans, so it might be harsh, but we'll become more confident after the camp,

hope to bond more with Hazel, Bhavna & JiaWei(:

I guess i couldn't have blogged yesterday.

COUNCIL STAYOVER WAS THE BOMBZZZ.
:D

Friday - 22nd Feb& 23rd Feb
Reached school a little erlier and tried to stuff all the things i had into the locker.
Thank God, with Dharishini's help, i did not have to carry any extra books around, except for my file. Haha. Started off with Assembly.
No morning duty today as it was Guides Day and the Guides took over the flag raising.
Booohoo.
Okay, whatever.
Timetable started.
And the first period was English in the pinky classroom.
:D
Did the comprehension and half way through, Miss Chye got sooooo angry with our class.
Never before did this happen.
:o
Then it was POA.
Carried on with the worksheet with a noisy background,
:/
Finally POA ended and then headed for Chem for 30 minutes, before leaving for Council Investiture.
Council Investiture.
I think this investiture is even more memmorable to me compared to last year, even though last year, i received my badge.
I helped with the award stuff. It was alright...
I just wasn't used to standing up straight almost everytime.
But i did it well,
i hope!

Then school ended,
refreshments started.
HAD to eat the refreshments.
LOL.
Then had a shock of my life,
:/
Okay,whatever.

Decided to skip CCA and come home and get a few things,
ate lunch, bathed, and headed back to school at 3.30.
Camp started a little later.
Miss Foo prayed at the beginning of the camp.
And then the camp started.
Started off with station games.
First game - Touch & Go.
ThankGod Dharishini was a nice soul and when it was my turn she didn't ask to pass down 1 if not there's a high chance that i'll get wet,
LOL.
We tied.
(:
Second Game- Poison Ball.
Our team won, i stood at the back so that i won't get hit by the Ball,
until NAVIN threw a ball and me towards me and i had to leave.
:/
Then it was BBQ time.
IT WAS HILARIOUS ALRIGHT.
Sat with all the Sec2s.
LOL.
Felt out of place at first, being the only sec 3 but it was alright in the end,
i had lots of fun with them.
:D
And towards some point, i was laughing too much till i decided to go to a more peaceful place,
so i went to sit near the piano,
outside the G.O.
:D
So peaceful.
LOL.
When Mr.Low came to us and asked what we were doing there, (Hazel&I)
We said we were being anti-social for a little while.
LOLLLLLL.
So we made ourselves useful by getting food for MrLow and some other principal.
:D
Then the sec2s called me along to join them exercise in the parade square.
AFTER DINNER.
ROFL.
SUPER FUNNY.
Walked one round of the parade square and then went to sit at the steps in the parade square and sang.
And then i received a call from Shalin to meet Andrew at the showerroom in the darkness.
And i was like alone there for 12 mins before Andrew came.
LOL.
Got briefed on the game,
thankGod i wasn't involved in the game because it was sooooooo scary.
In darkness, they wer supposed to find 5 items in both the boys and girls toilet.
LOL.
IN PITCH DARKNESS,
and there were people who would scare you in there.
And you know un-invited people were in there, like
insects.
Then i was just leaning on the wall and looking at the stars and i saw a
black tinny creature in crawling past, over Melody's slippers.
OMGGGGG, IT WAS A RAT ALRIGHT.
AND I WAS SCREAMING LIKE SOME MAD WOMAN.
LOLLL.
Then went to the parade square after the game,
cleaned the area, of our station game,
and then left to bathe,
was already one of the lastone because i and Chastina had to mop the toilets.
Bathed,
and went to the dance room to sleep.
AIRCON.

It was soooo cold.
MAN.
COLD.
The best part of the camp was the stayover cos of Hazel beside me.
ILOVEHERALRIGHT.

The night was funny.
Woke up early the next day, thanks to someone's alarm.
2hours earlier, lol.
Walked to the toilet, brushed my teeth and all, went back to the room and packed my bag.
Went down to the parade square with HAZEL&JIAWEI.
Waited for awhile before Josiah and Navin came down.
Prepared breakfast,
and it was there,
BeeHoon with SoyaBean.

30 mins break, so Hazel and I sat at the Sec4 PE area
and admired the scenery and the peacefulness.
HAHA.
Then we got briefed of the next game,
1 left before the end of the camp ended,
AMAZING GRACE.
First Sation which we had difficulty finding the clue was the Liliput,
Went to the liliput, and the task was to burst the balloons to find the next clue,
The popping sound was a scare.
Haha.
Then Joel did all the bursting and after quite some time we managed to find the clue to the next station.
2nd station was fun and relaxing,
with all the things we have, form a row of objects.
And our team manged to complete it,
fast and simple.
The team consisted of HAZEL :D, Joel, Stella, Michelle, Somesec2guy, ME.

Then moved on the the thirs station in the canteen,
i didn't complete that station,
Hazel didn't too.

Then 4th station was in the hall, it was a little more emphasize on teamwork.
The girls managed to show that, but the 2 guys just refused.

First i stepped on Hazel's leg and crossed over the crocodile river,
next, i i helped stella to cross the crocodile river.

The last station, station 5 was in the Fitness Corner.
The Simplest Station.
And we became 3rd overall.

Then went to the dance room to take our stuffs, and did area cleaning,
i mopped the floor again.
LOL.
then gathered and debriefed.
And left.

This camp was great, except for certain parts.
